For mezzosoprano and seven instruments, Berio wrote a note "a guitar can be used instead of the harp. The guitar must be slightly amplified".
José Manuel Dapena was selected by Taller Atlántico Contemporáneo one of the best spanish contemporary classical ensembles to make a new complete version with the guitar.

September 28 & 30, 2011 - Dapena performs in Il barbiere di Siviglia - Gioachino Rossini

September 28 & 30- José Manuel Dapena performed  the guitar solo part of the famous Barber of Seville by Rossini with Real Filharmonía de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela.

The guitar appears on two songs, one with orchestra and one with the tenor. For these functions Dapena offered a copy of the original guitar from the time of Rossini, a classical romantic French Lacote, used by the actors on stage.

May 10, 2011 - Andrea Giuffredi back in Taiwan

Following a great success of his March 23rd concert in Taipei, Andrea Giuffredi has been invited to perform two outdoor concert with Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in June 11 & 12, 2011. The program will feature different medleys based on traditional Italian and Spanish tunes as well as Hollywood movie themes. These concerts will be directed by conductor  Chiu-Shen Chen, a former conductor of TSO. andrea_ico_de_pielogo_tso

 
March 25, 2011 - Andrea Giuffredi - Soloist with Taipei Symphony Orchestra

 

Italian trumpeter Andrea Giuffredi was the soloist with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra last Wednesday, March 23, 2011. He performed a Medley Suite based on movie tunes written by Nino Rota and also another selection titled Rossini Virtuoso, featuring renowned arias and melodies by Rossini, arranged for trumpet solo.


Further on this season Giuffredi will be playing  in Germany,  in Japan (Tokyo,Yamagata) and as soloist with Busina Brass Quartet in Croatia.

 
March 20, 2011 -José Manuel Dapena. Concert after the Tunisian revolution.

 

Spanish classical guitarist José Manuel Dapena performed a concert on Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Tunis organised by Cervantes Institute.

The Spanish Embassy restarted its cultural events in March 2011 after a two month stop earlier this year because of the situation in the country. 

Cervantes Institute contracted José Manuel Dapena to perform a program featuring works from female Spanish composers in a homage to women's international day. Jose Manuel Dapena is the first international artist playing a concert after Tunisian revolution.
