Andrea Giuffredi - Biography

Andrea Giuffredi, has collaborated for over 25 years as principal trumpet with main Italian orchestras: "Orchestre R.A.I." Turin and Milan, "Teatro Comunale" Firenze, "Teatro Regio" Parma, "Teatro alla Scala" in Milan, "Orchestra sinfonica Arturo Toscanini dell'Emilia Romagna".

He has played with several famous Conductors such as Muti, Prêtre, Sawallisch, Sinopoli, Cuhng and many others, playing in the most important concert halls of the world from Japan to Turkey, from Germany to France, Italy, United States, Iraq, Tunisia, Egypt, France, Finland, Spain, Malta, Mexico, Albania, China, Russia.

From '90 to '96 he played as a soloist with famous chamber orchestra "I Solisti Veneti " with conductor Claudio Scimone. He has held trumpet master classes and recitals in different parts of the world : USA, Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany, Finland and China . He has also played as soloist in the ITG conference 2004 (USA).

As lead trumpet he has appeared in television shows with the most important Italian and international singers among these George Michael,Liza Minnelli,Luciano Pavarotti,etc.

As soloist he has played accompained by symphonic orchestra "A. Toscanini" (Parma), by RTSH Albanian National Radio TV, by "I Solisti Veneti" , "Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana" , "Krasnoyarsk Sympony Orchestra, "I Solisti di Salisburgo" and Taipei Symphony.

He has also been part of the international jury for the classical trumpet contest "Lieksa Trumpet Competition 2007" in Finland.
On 2006 he has done concerts as a duo with Joe Alessi principal trombone of the New York Philharmonic and played as a principal trumpet with Ennio Morricone and Filarmonica Teatro alla Scala tour.

He has alread realized three CDs as soloist in USA for Summit Records.

For 20 years is trumpet teacher at the "International Academy of the Music" in Milan (Italy)

Andrea Giuffredi began to study trumpet when was nine years old, getting a diploma at the Conservatory of Piacenza in 1985. His professional career started in 1983 as principal trumpet in symphonic orchestras, an activity that has lasted more than 22 years and continues today. He has been collaborating with the main symphonic societies, with the most important orchestras of Italy (Orchestra of R.A.I.), the Italian broadcasting company, Teatro Comunale of Florence, Teatro Regio of Parma, Teatro alla Scala of Milan, and Arturo Toscanini Symphony Orchestra of Emilia Romagna. He also took part in tournées in Italy, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Suisse, Austria, Finland, Turkey, Czech Republic, Tunisy, Israel, Iraq, Japan, Egypt, Mexico.

He has furthermore played as soloist at the Tonhalle-Orchester Hall of Zurich accompanied by the Salzburg Chamber Soloists. Beyond his principal "classical" activity, he has been participating in several television shows for the italian Mediaset network and studio recording sessions, playing with Latin-American and jazz big bands and the most important names of the Italian song.

Because of his particular artistic versatility , he has been invited to hold a panel in the United States about "Crossover Playing" together with Allen Vizzutti and Jens Lindemann (University of Denver, ITG conference 2004). He’s a musician that is very keen on new languages, pushed by his natural bias to cross the borders among music genders and love for experimentation, always researching a personal sound in his own language. As a leader in 2002 Andrea recorded the CD, "Forme d’arte", published in the United States by Summit Records and in 2005 "L’anacoreta" with Randy Brecker's participation.

As a studio musician he recorded over 30 CDs.

He has done master classes in several parts of the world, such as Greece at "Kalavrita seminar", Italy, in Spain at Spanish Brass Festival 2005", in Germany at Music Hoschule of Friburg and at the Central Conservatory of Music of Beijing (China). He has also played as a soloist at the 2004 ITG conference in Denver.

As soloist he has played accompained by symphonic orchestra "A. Toscanini" (Parma), by RTSH Tirana Radio TV, by "I Solisti Veneti" and "I Solisti di Salisburgo" playing in Greece, Finland, United States, Germany, Austria, Albania, Italy.

Frank Campo (USA), has written two pieces for him : "Afterthoughts" and "Variations on a Theme of Paganini". In 2006 played as duo with Joe Alessi , principal trombone of the New York Philharmonic.

He played as a principal trumpet at Ennio Morricone –Filarmonica Teatro alla Scala tour. In summer 2007 he was jury member of  "3rd Lieska International Trumpet Competition " in Finland.

In 2008 the "Tribute to Luciano Pavarotti"  CD was recorded in USA and published by Summit Records .

Currently Andrea Giuffredi is a professor at the "Accademia Internazionale della Musica" of Milan.
